New for the 2026 return you file in 2027
The repayment cap is gone. One dollar over the cliff can cost you the whole subsidy.
Enter your Form 1095-A and your 2026 income. In two minutes you'll see what you owe the IRS in April, and whether an HSA, IRA or SEP contribution can still pull you back under the 400% line.
- $0 repayment cap for 2026 (OBBBA §71305)
- $62,600 cliff for one person · $128,600 for four
- Apr 15, 2027 last day for HSA and IRA moves that count for 2026
Why 2027 tax season is going to hurt
The cliff is back
The enhanced credits expired after 2025. For 2026 coverage, income above 400% of the poverty line means no credit at all.
The cap is gone
Before 2026, many people only repaid a capped amount. Now every dollar of excess advance credit comes back on the return.
Some fixes still count
HSA and deductible IRA money counts for 2026 until April 15, 2027. SEP money counts until your filing deadline, extensions included.
